The system was designed by Arthur Schmitt of Birnamwood, WI, who has over 35 years experience manufacturing commercial cabinets. In 2008 Arthur retired and sold his shop and equipment to a long time employee. The sale of the cabinet shop included a 46 spindle line drilling machine, and a hinge boring and insertion machine. While fulfilling the requests of family and friends for new cabinets, Arthur saw the need for a line drilling system which would serve small commercial cabinet shops without the cost and space requirements of a multiple head drilling machine. The invention began to take shape and with a few successful prototypes, was proven to be a winner, and was patented.
The SCHMITT32 line drill system quickly and accurately locates and drills all the 5mm holes necessary for the precise installation of concealed Euro style hinges, drawer slides, (side mount or undermount type), and shelf support pins. The system is a natural for modern frameless style cabinets with narrow gaps between doors and drawer fronts and for the wider reveal 1/2 overlay style. The Schmitt32 system even works on certain face frame cabinet configurations.
